GOALKEEPER Dan Jezeph is ready to commit to Worcester City for the season in his bid to return to the professional game.

The 20-year-old ex-West Bromwich Albion and Walsall custodian has established himself as first choice at City after joining on dual registration from Southern League Tamworth.

Worcester missed out on his services at Dunkirk last month when he got recalled by the Lambs to sit on the bench for an FA Cup tie but has played all four Midland Football League Premier Division games since ahead of tomorrow’s trip to backmarkers South Normanton Athletic (3pm).

“It is pretty much in Worcester’s hands, if I am playing then I will be here all season,” said Jezeph.

“Getting 90 minutes each week is what I need at such a young age so to be out there week in week out is great.

“At the moment it is a stepping stone. Playing is only going to help my career because I want to try to get back into the professional game as soon as possible.

“Full-time football is something that has been on my radar right from the start. I was in that environment from the ages of eight to 18. It is all I know.

“Non-league and men’s football is quite new to me. This is probably the most consecutive games I have played.

“When I looked at clubs to join, I knew a couple of lads here and the ambition helped. It was a no brainer.”

A quirky feature of Jezeph’s game is his triple touch of the goal frame at the start of each half.

He admits to being a superstitious character with his pre-match routine having to be just so.

“It was one of those things I did once and it just stuck,” said Jezeph.

“I touch one post, the crossbar then the other post. I do it every time we are about to kick off and it is one of a few little things that stick with me.

“The way I put my kit on, touching the posts and things in the warm up, doing those things fills me with confidence. It is automatic now, I don’t even think about it.

“The main thing that would put me off is (changing) the warm-up, I like to do things as I want to before a game and if that’s not right then it can affect me but the rest is just down to habit.”

Football may be Jezeph’s passion but there is the back-up plan of a flourishing business partnership with his mum in Sutton Coldfield.

Bean Green Kitchen is a café that promotes healthy-eating choices.

“It has really kicked on since we started a year ago,” added Jezeph.

“We do fresh food, salads, chicken, just really healthy food as an alternative to what you might find elsewhere.”
