ASSISTANT manager Ashley Vincent called on misfiring Worcester City to reflect on a “poor” performance in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at 10-man South Normanton Athletic.

It was a difficult watch with George Forsyth’s skied penalty 19 minutes from time summing up City’s fortunes against the Midland Football League Premier Division’s bottom club.

“I thought it was poor – a drab day and a drab game in which we didn’t get going,” said Vincent.

“We were slow when we had asked them to be quick from the start. They made it scrappy and we got caught up in it.

“When they went down to 10 men we thought we would show a bit of quality and start to pass it but we didn’t. We got caught up in their time wasting and moaning at the referee.

“The more the game went on, the more it looked like everyone was waiting for the whistle to blow.

“We had chances in the second half and missed the penalty but Dan Jezeph made two great saves in the both halves.

“On reflection, I cannot say we deserved to win the game because our keeper was probably our best player.

“I am not the type of person to think of it as a bad day and leave it there, I will go away and think about what I could have done differently and hope some of our players do that as well.

“Too many of our big players had an off day and they know that, they put up their hands to it in the dressing room.

“We need to let it settle because we are all disappointed but then we need to think about what we could have changed to give us that bit more impetus in the first half.

“The one positive was that we didn’t get beaten and have another point on the board.”
