MANAGER Karl Gormley was pleased with the reaction of his players after “a few choice words” were said at half-time as Worcester Raiders overcame Bromyard Town 3-1 at Claines Lane.

Paul Smith gave the hosts the lead before Bromyard equalised in the final five minutes of a scrappy opening period.

Martin Fowler notched Raiders’ second on 55 minutes before a late 25-yard strike from Luke Molloy secured all three points.

The victory extended the city side’s winning run to six games as they remain two points behind the top two in West Midlands (Regional) League Division One.

“We were disappointed with the way we played in the first half,” Gormley said.

“We had a few choice words at half-time and they responded really well.

“It was a cold, wet and windy day but you have got to get through games like that.

“Every win is important to us as it is close at the top with nobody running away with it.”

Droitwich Spa stay in second spot, one point off leaders Team Dudley, after claiming a 4-3 victory at lowly Wellington Amateurs.

All the goals came in the first period with Haydn Morris, James Lemon (2) and Andy Crowther getting on the scoresheet.

Spa host Gornal Athletic in the league while Raiders visit Barnt Green Spartak in the Smedley Crooke Cup on Saturday (both 3pm).

In the Premier Division, a Josh Hunt double and goals from Ben Lane and Matt Turner saw Malvern Town triumph 4-0 at Bewdley Town.

Pershore Town 88 remain rooted to the foot of the table after losing 6-1 at high-flying Black Country Rangers.

Malvern entertain Cradley Town at the HDanywhere Community Stadium and Pershore host Smethwick Rangers tomorrow night (both 7.45pm).
