A SWIFT sorry has afforded ex-Wolves youngster Josh Hesson the chance to redeem himself at Worcester City.

Doubt was cast over the fleet-footed right-sided player’s future with City after throwing his shirt to the floor as he headed down the tunnel at the end of last weekend’s 2-1 FA Vase win over Long Eaton United.

But Hesson earned a second chance having met with boss John Snape and assistant manager Ashley Vincent on Tuesday, expressing remorse for his “heat-of-the-moment” actions.

“He apologised to us and the lads for what happened on Saturday,” said Vincent.

“Josh felt it was a heat-of-the-moment thing. Now he has to get his head down and train hard, whether that be with us or elsewhere.

“He is a young lad who made a mistake. He has to put that right for himself more than anyone else and needs to show it was a one off.”

Vincent confirmed Hesson would remain with City and hinted at a run out with the second string in order to improve his match fitness.

“We will have to see how things go over the next week or two,” Vincent added.

“There is every chance come Tuesday night that he’s playing in the cup game for us at Pershore Town or for the reserves on Saturday to try to get minutes.

“He came to us late without training or playing much football. We think he is lacking in that respect but more than anything else, he needs to concentrate on what he wants to do.

“Does he want to work his way back in and have a right good bash? If he does the door is not closed. His performances and effort levels will show how much he wants it.

“He is a young lad and we all make mistakes, some bigger than his and some not so big. When they happen you hope to learn from them but also that people don’t turn their backs on you.

“We all know he is a talented lad. He has a lot of ability and now it is all about how much he wants to get his head down and prove to everyone – the gaffer, me, the players and the fans – how much he wants to be here.

“As long as he does that, I am sure he will get all of the support he needs."
