GEORGE Forsyth was our City star man in the 3-0 win over Ilkeston Town. Who was yours?

DAN JEZEPH 8

Calm, controlled, came for crosses and pulled off three saves at points that could have swung the pendulum. Turning into a real asset after a shaky start.

LUKE ENGLISH 7.5

Solid and dependable at right-back and then when required at centre-half. That dangerous long throw finally paid dividends.

JAMIE SMITH 7

A good display without quite being at his very best. Put his body on the line and made amends for any hairy moments.

STAR MAN – GEORGE FORSYTH 9

Every time there was a danger, City’s flexible friend sorted it out with the presence and tenacity that belied his years, particularly when Alex Marshall came crashing in with arms flying everywhere.

JORDAN STODDART 8

Like Forsyth, colossal when he had to be. Stood up to the physical barrage to time jumps and clearances to perfection at times.

JOEL CAINES 7

Grew in stature despite a very shaky start. His ball out under all sorts of pressure unlocked Ilkeston for the crucial second.

TYLER WEIR 7

Carried a threat without finding the finish. Dogged and looked fresher then seven days previously, clearly benefited from his game time against Long Eaton.

CHRIS WITHINGTON 7.5

Never underestimate the influence of someone who breaks up the play. Energetic and showed how much he cared in every challenge. City’s unsung hero.

JORDAN HARRISON 7

Another tireless worker who has not caught many breaks of late. Meant or not his goal drew gasps from everyone present. Sometimes you make your own luck – Harrison certainly did.

MAT BIRLEY 7.5

Watching City’s maestro weave his magic is a sight to behold. Unplayable in flashes, could have scored more.

JAMES BALDWIN 7.5

The oodles of energy he expends were more worthwhile this week thanks to focus and determination. The kind of performance City will need replicating when playing in front of 80 on a cold Tuesday at Long Eaton.
