Summary

FULL-TIME: Pershore Town 0 Worcester City 2

Our live feed has now finished.

  • KYONN Evans bagged the brace that saw Worcester City safely past Pershore Town 2-0 in the Worcestershire Senior Urn.
  • The match itself was no spectacle with little flow but Evans was on hand to secure a last-four berth and extend to 15 matches City’s unbeaten run in all competitions.
  • Worcester made 10 changes to the starting XI with Jamie Smith the only player to start this and Saturday’s 3-0 win over Ilkeston Town.
  • After a tame start the visitors led 17 minutes in when Nick Turton fed Joe Bates to drive across the pitch to Evans on the left with the hitman cutting inside and driving low across keeper Ashley Jones.
  • Pershore pressed with venom and went close when forward-thinking full-back Jordan Hayward headed back from the edge of the box for Callum Grant to swing a shot that swerved towards the top corner only to be flicked over the bar by Sam Gilder.
  • The match became increasingly scrappy towards the end of the half with Liam Lockett’s weaving run and cross-shot drifting wide at one end and Sam Clarke’s downward header bouncing wide with Gilder rooted at the other.
  • But the second half was less than three minutes old when the sting was taken out of the game by City’s second.
  • Turton dashed on to a ball down the left and swung in for Evans to arrive with time and space in the box, so much so that he trod on the ball but still had time to adjust his feet to power high inside the far post.
  • The floodgates might have opened when Evans fired across goal but Bates was unable to stretch far enough to nudge into a gaping net moments later.
  • Bates earned and fired a free-kick towards Jones’s bottom left corner only to be thwarted by a strong single glove with Evans going agonisingly close to his treble just after.
  • Having hustled his man, the ball again seemed to be trapped in his feet with the prodded effort diverted away by the stray boot of Jones.
  • Substitute James Baldwin’s left-wing cross had to be swatted over late on but there would be no further score in a scrappy derby.
  • City will now host either Stourport Swifts or Bromsgrove Sporting who face off next Tuesday at Walshes Meadow.
  • Pershore: Jones, Watling, Hayward, Halsall (Aldington, 64), Endacott, Smith, Khan, Bevan, Clarke, Grant, Pugh. Unused subs: Coburn, Wilcox (g/k).
  • City: Gilder, Harper (Willis, 68), Osbourne, Lewis, Smith, Keasey, Hesson, Lockett, Turton (Baldwin, 58), Bates (Moran, 75), Evans. Unused subs: English, Harrison.
