ONE of the main reasons for Hereford United's success this season is the competition for places in the squad, according to manager Graham Turner.
The Edgar Street side entertain Bradford City in a League Two clash tomorrow afternoon looking to cement their place among the league's early pace-setters.
Turner oversaw a huge personnel change during the summer, bringing in many new faces to replace those either deemed surplus to requirements or who had turned down deals.
Among those who arrived at the club were Steve Guinan, Karl Broadhurst, Kris Taylor, Clint Easton, Lionel Ainsworth and Trevor Benjamin.
They also took teenager Theo Robinson and Toumani Diagouraga on loan from Championship side Watford, while summer 2006 recruit Luke Webb has been used a substitute of late.
Turner said: "We have got a bit of competition for places which is pleasing.
"Luke's been doing OK in training and deserved his opportunity on the bench. We have got Trent McClenahan available, Luke's doing OK, Sam Gwynne's doing OK and Theo Robinson should be fit for this weekend."
He added: "That's what you want at the club, nobody taking their position for granted and everybody fighting for a place.
"But when they're in the team there's got to be a spirit among the players and everybody wanting everybody else to do OK. If they are left out then they've got to be right when they're ready to come in again."
