FRANCE-based fly-half Dorian Jones has revealed he would love to have “another crack” in the Gallagher Premiership with Worcester Warriors.

The Welshman joined Warriors on loan from Dragons in March and described his short Sixways spell as one of the “greatest experiences” in his career.

Jones said Worcester “felt like home” but did not expect to secure a permanent deal at the club due to the summer signings of Jono Lance and Duncan Weir.

With opportunities also limited at Dragons the 26-year-old moved to French second-tier side Soyaux Angoulême ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

But the son of former Worcester star Kingsley Jones had not given up hope of a possible return to Warriors in the future.

“Worcester was one of my greatest experiences so far,” he said.

“I enjoyed working with the boys and Alan Solomons who is a really honest, up-front and fair guy. He gave me an opportunity and I really appreciated that.

“I thought the crowd, the people and everything about Worcester was great.

“It felt like home which was strange but it really did.”

Jones made four appearances for Warriors and helped to retain the club’s top-flight status.

“I was really disappointed (that I could not stay longer),” Jones said.

“But before I came I was made fully aware that the chances of anything coming of it were very slim with two very good signings in Jono and Duncan.

“Jamie Shillcock is a really good player too so it would not have made sense on their behalf to sign me.

“But who knows what will happen in the future as some players might be out of contract?

“I would like to get an opportunity to go back there at some point.

“I think this season is going to be really good one for them.”

Solomons is poised to hold talks with Warriors' owners over the possibility of making a move for a fly-half after Lance was ruled out until February with a back issue.

When asked previously whether he would jump at the chance to return to Worcester, Jones said: “Yes, it would definitely be something I would not say no to.

“I would love to have another crack in the Premiership.”

Jones signed a two-year deal at Soyaux Angoulême but he revealed there was a buy-out clause at the end of this season.

“That option is something that I wanted because I am not going to Pro D2 just for the lifestyle. I am going to challenge myself and get better as a player,” he added.

“I want to play in the (French) Top 14 or in the top leagues.

“People may see the Pro D2 as a drop off but it isn’t. It is a challenge and something I am going to learn from.

“But it is not somewhere that I want to spend the rest of my career as I want to be playing at the top.”

Ex-Wasps and England wing Tom Varndell also joined Soyaux Angoulême as they bid to gain promotion to France’s Top 14.

“I think there is a lot of ambition here,” Abergavenny-born Jones said.

“They have made some good signings including Dylan Hayes who has come from Grenoble.

“There is a prop that won the Super Rugby with the Highlanders and a centre who has played for the Brumbies and Australia sevens.

“They are a very big, physical team and there is not too much structure.

“It’s different to what I have been used to but I am enjoying it.”
