WORCESTER Warriors centre Ben Te'o has been thrust straight into England's starting line-up to face South Africa at Twickenham on Saturday (3pm).

After an injury-hit start to the season Te'o made his first appearance of the campaign two weeks ago when he came off the bench in Warriors' victory over Ospreys in the European Challenge Cup.

The 31-year-old then linked up with England at a training camp in Portugal last week and is now set to win his 14th cap for his country as he starts at 12 along side Exeter Chiefs' Henry Slade in the midfield.

It will be Te'o first appearance for England since the last match of the Six Nations against Ireland in March having missed the summer tour to South Africa through injury.

Dylan Hartley and Owen Farrell are named as co-captains in a starting XV which includes 413 caps.

Alec Hepburn will make his starting debut for England while uncapped players Zach Mercer and Ben Moon are in line to win their first caps off the bench.

England head coach Eddie Jones said: “We’ve become very well organised in our set piece and have done a lot of good work in Portugal over the last week.

"We have put in a new defence system and our attack looks more organised than it was on the South Africa tour.

“Against South Africa you have got the physical battle up front and then you have to be tactically smart in how you attack against them. We need to find ways to gain momentum, then once we find momentum, convert that to points.

“We are really excited to be back at Twickenham Stadium. It’s been a long time and we can’t wait to play in front of 82,000 fans.”
