BACK rower Marco Mama and centre Ryan Mills will not be risked for Worcester Warriors’ Premiership Cup clash with Leicester Tigers at Welford Road on Saturday (3pm).

There was hope Mama (hamstring) and Mills (ankle) would be back to face Tigers after sitting out Worcester’s 35-3 victory over Sale Sharks at Sixways last Friday.

But director of rugby Alan Solomons said the injured duo, who have not featured since Worcester’s 52-7 thrashing of Bristol Bears four weeks ago, would not be up for selection despite making progress.

“I will not push Marco and Millsy in just yet,” Solomons said.

“They are tracking very nicely but I am not going to take any risks with them.”

Full-back Chris Pennell is poised to make his first appearance since the win over Bristol after recovering from a back issue.

Solomons confirmed lock Anton Bresler, who failed a head injury assessment in the second half against Sharks, would also be available.

“Anton has trained fully with us,” Solomons said.

“He has gone through the (concussion) protocol successfully and having an eight-day turnaround for this game does help in that regard.”

But tighthead prop Farai Mudariki has been ruled out with a neck injury which he sustained 33 minutes into his debut.

“We won’t consider Farai as he hasn’t trained and wasn’t able to take part in our contact session this week,” Solomons added.

“He took a blow to the neck (against Sale) but it’s not a bad injury. He should be fine next week.”

Solomons welcomed back his Premiership stars for Warriors’ cup opener with Sale and is expected to field a strong line-up at Leicester as they crank up their preparations ahead of the league encounter at Bath on November 17.

“Leicester are always a tough proposition at Welford Road,” Solomons said.

“We have got to sit down and finalise the team but what is important is getting game-time.

“We have got to look at how we run the next two to three weeks leading into the Bath game and plan accordingly.”

Warriors’ cup game at Saracens a week on Sunday comes just six days before they take on Bath.

“We have got to take that into consideration,” Solomons said.

“We will deliberate on that and then make our final decisions.

“Over the next two weeks pretty much most of the squad will get game-time.”

Leicester included 11 academy graduates in the side that lost 29-21 to Saracens at Allianz Park last weekend.

“They must do whatever suits them,” added Solomons whose team are on a run of four successive victories.

“Everybody has got their own strategy as to how they want to prepare. It’s entirely up to them. It’s of no concern to me whatever team they put out.”
