GEORGE Forsyth reckons Worcester City need to play with the "arrogance" of being "biggest club at this level".

Sunday's dismal FA Vase exit to Desborough Town was played out in front of the competition's biggest attendance of the round with Forsyth making the case for City to show the swagger that befits their status as Step 5 giants.

He pulled no punches in his assessment of a performance that "let down the fans", the management team and the players themselves.

Many supporters left early with a handful of supporters making their opinions known as the players left the pitch.

“We are gutted, the whole team,” said Forsyth in the aftermath.

“We did not only let down the fans but more so Ash (Vincent, assistant manager) and the gaffer (John Snape) and ourselves.

“It was not a good performance at all. I don’t know what went wrong, we trained on Saturday and everything was put in place. We did our tactics and the game plan but from minute one it was not right, we were not at it.

“If anything, they fancied it and had a right good go. We did not get going other than a five-minute spell after half-time but there were no big chances. It was not good enough.

"The fans have a right to be disappointed. We are Worcester City and one thing we lack sometimes is that bit of arrogance, not in a disrespectful way but having that absolute belief in our ability.

“This is the biggest club at this level in my opinion and we don’t always show it. We expect to be able to roll teams over but we don’t play with that arrogance.

“Without disrespect we should be beating Desborough, that is a simple fact but football doesn’t work like that. They were the better team on the day and fully deserved to win.

“Especially with the club turning itself around with the new board and everything going so well it would have been good to get something going in the FA Vase. I think that was the hardest part to take."

Forsyth also acknowledged the lack of belief shown on Sunday had taken him by surprise.

“Ash mentioned it after the game and he was totally right,” he added.

“I don’t understand how we go on such a great run, lose once and then seem to become affected. We have got to be stronger than that mentally.

“I cannot put my finger on it, something was just not right. We just have to go and put it right now.

“As a team we have to stick together, the Vase was not to be but we have to put it right now and win the league.”
