WORCESTER City could opt to field a stronger side than initially planned at Highgate United tomorrow on the back of Sunday’s FA Vase disappointment.

City head to The Coppice for a League Cup tie on the back of an MFL Premier defeat to Sporting Khalsa, which ended a 15-match unbeaten run, followed by the weekend’s abject exit at the hands of Desborough Town.

Assistant manager Ashley Vincent confirmed team changes had been planned as has been the case in the MFL Cup and Worcestershire Senior Urn so far this season but a rethink could be on the cards.

“We will be talking it through,” said Vincent.

“The thinking was to give some of the younger players or lads who have not been playing some match time but I suppose there is a case for getting a bad performance out of our systems.

“As a footballer it is always nice in these situations when another game comes along quickly so we have to decide whether we give them a chance to put on a strong performance and get us back to where we were two or three weeks ago.

“The second half against Sporting Khalsa and then Sunday as a whole was not good enough, personally or collectively. We know that so there is plenty to consider.”

Luke English missed Sunday’s match due to work commitments with Vincent admitting he had been missed.

Signed from Studley over the summer, he has been one of City’s most-improved players in recent weeks and could return in the quest to set up a third-round tie at home to his former club.

“He gives us a different dimension and while we don’t always like to use it because we want to play football, his throw is a weapon too,” added Vincent.

One player that will not feature is Adam Osbourne who has been registered with Sporting Khalsa.

“It was out of our hands,” said Vincent.

“They put in an approach which the gaffer (John Snape) waived. That’s something we tend to do here to be honest, we’re not going to stand in the way of people that don’t want to be here.

“Especially with the situation we have moving in the right direction off the field, we don’t want to keep people against their will.

“It is closer to his home and he has decided that’s what he wants to do so all the best to him.”
