CAMERON Walker debuted for Worcester City on Wednesday night and scored in a 4-1 win at Highgate United in the Midland Football League Cup.

Here’s the lowdown on City’s new recruit.

WHAT’S HIS BACKGROUND?

Walker linked up with West Bromwich Albion at the age of 12 and was a scholar until his release over the summer.

He recently played his first game for Dudley Town and came off the bench in Stourbridge’s Southern League Cup tie against Cinderford Town on Monday.

The 18-year-old remains registered and eligible for Stourbridge, City and Dudley as a non-contract player due to each team competing in different leagues.

HOW HAVE THINGS BEEN SINCE LEAVING WEST BROM?

“I had been around academy football for six years so it was a bit of a change coming into non-league.

“When you have been in comfort your whole life, everything being done for you from your kit to everything else, it can be hard but I am adjusting to it well.

“I have found myself a job and a club now. I am no big-time Charlie, I don’t think I am the best and will just get my head down and work hard.

“I am gaining fitness and experience and enjoying it. At the moment I am happy at Stourbridge but Worcester have asked me to come down and play a few games which I am happy with.

WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF FOOTBALL?

“I work in a warehouse to keep myself busy and money in my pocket as well as playing football.

“Hopefully I can get back into football full-time.”

WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING TO ACHIEVE THIS SEASON?

“I had a Premier League scholarship and have dropped a long way but want to climb the ladder again and fight my way to the top.

“All I can do is work hard and see what I get out of it. I love football and just want to stay in there.”

WHICH PREMIER LEAGUE PLAYER IS YOUR STYLE SIMILAR TO?

“Romelu Lukaku because he is quite strong but I am good with my feet as well so maybe I would say Gabriel Jesus.

“There is a bit of a difference. Jesus has good feet and Lukaku has the power, I would like to think I have a bit of both. I like to hold up the ball and play.”

WHAT THE MANAGEMENT SAID

“Firstly, we are very grateful to Stourbridge,” said assistant manager Ashley Vincent.

“It is a case of Cam coming in to get valuable game time. We feel he can help us as much as we can help him.

“Maybe he can provide us with a bit of freshness and give a few a kick up the backside, the lads who are not playing week in week out know that there is someone else after their shirt.

“He not only came on and scored a good goal at Highgate but was decent. We are happy to have him.”
