WORCESTER City boss John Snape insists it will be “business as usual” in the transfer market despite the exit of Tyler Weir.

The 28-year-old got snapped up by National South outfit Gloucester City yesterday on a contract until the end of the season.

Weir has been one of City’s brightest lights this season having returned from Redditch United via Westfields over the summer.

Utilised in a more attacking role on the right, the popular full-back bagged a brace in the FA Vase victory over Long Eaton United last month.

His departure comes hot on the heels of frontrunners Joe Bates and Kyonn Evans joining Bishop's Cleeve and Malvern Town respectively on dual-registration terms over the weekend.

And Snape revealed Weir's switch would not alter his plans to focus on his strikeforce than seeking a direct replacement.

“We constantly assess what we’re doing and for us it is business as usual,” said Snape.

“We will look to promote from within and this gives other players an opportunity. We want to keep that camaraderie in the squad and the right players at the club.

“As always, we will look to improve the squad but at the moment searching for a right-sided player is not necessarily the aim. We want to improve the frontline.”

The move sees Weir rejoin the club he made 67 appearances for between 2011 and 2013, representing a three-tier jump.

“Tyler spoke to me, Ash (Vincent, assistant manager) and the board and felt the offer of a contract was one he could not refuse,” added Snape.

“With his family situation as it is he thinks it is a good option for him and regrettable as it is we could not stand in his way.

“He was toing and froing last season which seemed to affect his football but I felt we had started to see the best of him this season, particularly in a more advanced role.”

Weir's contract status prevents Worcester from retaining his services on a dual-registration basis.
