CENTRE Ollie Lawrence is set to see a specialist today after suffering “a little bit of nerve damage” to his right leg.

The academy ace has not played since being forced off in Worcester Warriors’ Premiership Cup victory at Leicester Tigers at the start of this month.

Director of rugby Alan Solomons had been upbeat over Lawrence’s chances of playing in Warriors’ Premiership clash with Harlequins at Sixways on Friday (7.45pm).

But Solomons said the club’s doctor recommended that the 19-year-old received further medical advice over his injury.

“Ollie is seeing the specialist today so we will see what they say and will make a decision from there,” Solomons said.

“I thought he would be fine (for this week) but he has had a little bit of a reaction.

“The team doctor said to refer him to a specialist and make sure he is 100 per cent.

“I think (the injury) started in that game against Leicester in the Premiership Cup game.

“He came off, then came back on after half-time but he could not run at all so we took him off.

“He has got a little bit of nerve damage so we have got to do the right thing.

“It’s the same with Michael Fatialofa.

“There is no good pushing a guy into playing and then he gets injured and is out for a long period.

“That’s not sensible. That’s penny wise and pound foolish.”
