WORCESTER men's firsts gained their first T1 Midlands One point of the season while the fourths enjoyed a big victory.

The city's top side drew 2-2 at home to fellow strugglers Northampton Saints.

Northampton drew first blood with a penalty-corner strike that sparked Worcester into life without producing an equaliser.

Both teams fought hard in the second period but Worcester struck back.

Tireless midfielder Rees Bonham broke into the D and played a reverse pass into Ollie Ranscombe who expertly slotted home.

Worcester kept piling on the pressure and with 15 minutes left a penalty-corner strike from Chris Watling put them ahead for the first time.

But the hosts were reduced to 10 men after an altercation and Northampton equalised in the last few minutes from another penalty corner.

The seconds lost 3-0 to Old Silhillians in the T2 West Midlands Premier and the thirds fell 8-0 at Harborne thirds in the T3 South West Premier.

But Worcester fourths secured their first victory of the season by winning 8-2 at Redditch thirds in South West Two.

Matt Sharratt (3), Ben Dimmick (2), Billy Forrester-Walker (2) and Malcolm Evans scored.

The fifths kept a clean sheet against Barford Tigers fourths, winning 5-0 thanks to Dylan O’Kane and a brace each for Ollie Betteridge and Paul Sharratt.

The sixths and sevenths continued to struggle with the restructuring of the leagues, losing 12-0 to unbeaten leaders Stourport fourths and 8-0 to Hampton-in-Arden fourths in South West Three respectively.

Worcester women's firsts lost 3-2 at University of Birmingham fourths in a highly competitive Midlands Feeder West game.

They conceded two in the first half before a quick free hit reached Helen Davenport who found Holly Smith and she buried a reverse-stick shot past the keeper.

In the second half Worcester looked secure at the back and continued to attack with Smith slipping the ball across the face of goal for Vicky Howell to equalise.

Both teams created chances but in the final five minutes the hosts found the winner in a game that could have gone either way.

Worcester seconds beat Pershore 4-1 in Worcestershire League Division One with goals from Julie Harwood, Libby Wycherley, Clare Hayes and Lucy Merrett.

The thirds lost 4-1 to Harborne fourths in Division Two with Liv Fletcher on target.

Worcester women’s over 35s were dominant in beating Oxford Hawks 4-0 in the first round of their cup.

Davenport (2), Hayes and Wycherley scored.

The girls' under 14s travelled to Oxford for the second group game in their tier two competition.

In the first half they were a little off the pace and not ready for Oxford’s robust play leading to a 1-0 deficit.

But Worcester were much the better team in the second period.

They could have had four or five goals but had to settle for just the one and a battling draw that kept their qualification hopes alive.
