WORCESTER City has signed youth-team defender Grant Horton on work experience from Cheltenham Town.

Grant is from Hereford and joined the Robins at the age of nine, remaining with the club ever since.

He was awarded a scholarship as an under-15 and impressed City boss John Snape in a recent FA Youth Cup tie against Gillingham.

Grant, who joins forward Aaron Basford who is at Worcester on a similar deal.

Meanwhile, tomorrow's home clash with Bromsgrove Sporting in the Worcestershire Senior Urn has been postponed due to ongoing problems with floodlights at the Victoria Ground. 

The Rouslers had Saturday's Southern League clash with Didcot Town abandoned due to the problem which struck at half-time.

Uncertainty over where the fault is located led to club officials playing it safe to avoid a last-ditch postponement.

Highgate United host Studley in the other last-four tie as planned (7.45).

A new date will be announced in due course.

  • WESTFIELDS will look to bounce back from Saturday's FA Vase exit when hitting the county cup trail at Wellington tomorrow (7.45).

The Hereford-based outfit missed out on a place in the last 32 of the national competition having lost 4-0 at home to Leicester Nirvana on Saturday.

Their rivals drew Coventry United, who sit 10th in Westfields' division, away in yesterday's fourth-round draw.

Wellington sit 12th in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division, the level below Westfields.
