WORCESTER men’s third team lost a thrilling derby with Pershore’s seniors 5-3 on Saturday.
A penalty corner drag flick from James Quinn and further strikes from Jack Barnes and Brett Pittam were not enough to salvage any kind of result.
It was a bad day all round for the men with the senior side getting thrashed 5-0 by a strong Loughborough University outfit and the seconds losing 3-1 at Sutton Coldfield where Matt Hooper notched with a penalty corner.
Nat Garfield equalised with a penalty corner and Billy Forrester-Walker gave the fourths the lead but they ended up losing 5-2 at second-placed Edgbaston.
Ollie Betteridge (2) and Dave Shepherd scored as the fifths lost 4-3 to their Edgbaston counterparts, while the sixth side lost 4-2 to Olton and West Warwickshire. Tim Martin bagged a brace.
Lucy Merrett (2), Libby Wycherley (2) with further goals from Jo Baggs, Helen Davenport and Clare Hayes sealed the women’s second team’s 7-1 win at Kings Heath Pickwick.
The third XI did not fare as well with a Katie Ralph strike all they had to celebrate in a 4-1 defeat to Harborne.
The fourths got back to winning ways with a keenly-fought 3-2 win away at Redditch. The goals came from Phoebe March, Poppy Turnbull and Caitlin Davis.
