DIRECTOR of rugby Adam Drew refused to make any excuses after Droitwich slumped to a 43-17 defeat under the lights at Stourbridge Lions.

Droitwich were level at 12-12 at half-time thanks to a Pete Knight score and a penalty try.

But Chris Hooper’s try was all they could muster after the break as Stourbridge stormed to an emphatic Midlands One West victory.

“We did not turn up on the night,” said Drew whose side sit in 11th position.

“We were in the game at half-time but they then scored very early on and we lost momentum. But there are no excuses.

“We were outplayed in the second half.”

Malvern suffered a disappointing 32-24 loss to fellow strugglers Moseley Oak at Spring Lane while Worcester went down 44-27 at Whitchurch.

But there were wins on the road for Bromsgrove and Hereford who beat Sutton Coldfield 15-10 and Old Halesonians 33-27 respectively.
