WORCESTER Warriors are facing an anxious wait to discover the extent of fly-half Jamie Shillcock’s leg injury.

Shillcock has gone to see a specialist this week after sustaining the blow in Warriors’ 21-6 loss to Pau at the Stade du Hameau last Friday.

The 21-year-old who missed the beginning of the season due to a knee injury was making his first start for Warriors since late October.

But Shillcock suffered an injury to his leg in the first half and was replaced by wing Tom Howe on 62 minutes, forcing utility back Scott van Breda to move into the number 10 slot.

Head coach Rory Duncan said Shillcock who signed a new deal at Warriors earlier this week would be unavailable for tomorrow’s home clash with Pau (3pm) as a “precaution” but was unsure on the stand-off’s prognosis.

“We are still waiting for the medical report,” Duncan said.

“He has gone to have it checked out so hopefully it is not too serious.”

On the injury, Duncan said: “It was a tackle situation where one of their guys rolled onto his leg.

“Jamie actually carried on playing for most of the game.

“It happened at the back end of the first half and he still played most of the second half.

“Eventually it got to a stage where it started to aggravate him so we pulled him off and as a precaution we have taken him out of consideration for this weekend.”
