THERE is an injury concern over prop Nick Schonert ahead of Worcester Warriors’ return to European Challenge Cup action.

Schonert missed Warriors’ trip to Saracens in the Gallagher Premiership last week due to an issue with his sternoclavicular (SC) joint.

The 27-year-old then came back to start against Bath on Saturday only to be replaced by Gareth Milasinovich at half-time.

Milasinovich also left the field late on following a blow to his head, forcing loosehead prop Callum Black to return to the field and finish the game at tighthead.

Speaking immediately after the 21-19 victory over Bath, director of rugby Alan Solomons said he did not believe Schonert’s injury was a “long-term thing”.

But Solomons admitted the front rower would be assessed this week as Warriors prepare for their European clash with Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday (3pm).

“I think it is the same (issue) so it’s his SC joint,” Solomons said.

“I think Gareth has had a HIA (head injury assessment) so I have got to check on that as well.

“But Callum did well there and knows what he is doing.”

On the extent of Schonert’s injury, Solomons added: “It is irritating him more than anything else.

“I don’t think it is a long-term thing but obviously we will have to get a clearer indication once the medics have had a close look at him.”
