THE boot was on the other foot for Worcester Rugby Club as they were on the wrong end of a 14-13 scoreline this time.

Having beaten local rivals Droitwich the previous weekend in Midlands One West, Worcester went down to high-flying Old Halesonians at Weston's Fields.

Chris Griffiths and Tom Dodge scored the tries ahead of Saturday's visit to fourth-placed Dudley Kingswinford who thumped hosts Droitwich 60-34 last weekend.

Fourth-from-bottom Droitwich picked up a try bonus point and Worcester a losing equivalent to keep the margin of five between them in the table.

Worcester director of rugby Niall Crawford said: "The highs and lows of sport — two weeks in a row the scoreboard has read 13-14.

"One week elation as we won by a point, the next disappointment to lose by a point.

"The lead in this game changed hands with no one able to breakaway.

"As a top-five team the visitors had lots of strengths but to our credit we dealt with them well on the whole.

"When we got ahead after a Dodge try and with five minutes left it looked like we may have done enough but the conversion bounced back off the post so we were left with the fact if Old Hales got three points then they could snatch the win.

"We will take our bonus point, keep building our league points total and prepare for DK away.

"Over 90 points were scored in the DK and Droitwich game. Could that mean the whitewash may get crossed several times this week? I hope so and I want it to be us that’s doing it!"
