WORCESTER Athletic Club's promoted senior men produced another strong show in Birmingham Cross Country League race three at Northampton.

They consolidated their mid-table spot in Division One with one fixture left.

On an undulating course with two hills and several long sweeping descents, the runners put the last few months of training to good use with quick times.

The first runner home was junior man George Beardmore in 32 minutes 31 seconds for 25th place overall, only 1.52 behind winner Omar Ahmed of Birchfield Harriers.

He was followed by fellow scoring A team runners Ben Jones in 32.50 for 33rd, Ben Duncan in 33.30 for 49th, Jake Watson in 34.40 for 87th, Mark Teague in 34.42 for 89th and Richard Walsh in 35.08 for 101st.

The B side had a strong showing as well with Robbie Campbell clocking 35.33 for 111th, Adam Pollock 36.56, Ciaran Connor 37.19, Stefan Sternkopf 37.25, Kevin McMillan 37.41 and Matt Fairlamb 37.43.

Other Worcester times saw David Price finish in 37.49, Dave O’Brien 40.06, Tom Bentley 40.10, Jeremy Burton 42.14 and David Pound 44.35.

Manager Dave Waldron, coach Andy Peach and the team travel to Telford for the final race of the season on Saturday, February 9, bidding for their highest Division One finish for many years.
