BOSS Karl Gormley reckons Worcester Raiders go into games with targets on their backs having put together a 13-match winning league run.

Raiders host mid-table Allscott on Saturday (2pm) hoping to close the gap on West Midlands (Regional) League Division One leaders Darlaston Town.

Despite not dropping any points since a 5-5 draw at Bromyard Town on August 27, Gormley’s second-placed charges still trail Darlaston by five points – albeit with four games in hand.

And with captain Matt Tyler, Martin Newman and hotshot Richard Smith set to return after sitting out Wednesday’s 2-1 win over Alcester Town in the Smedley Crooke Memorial Cup, the gaffer knows there can be no let up in the chase for supremacy.

“We will be changing things around again to keep it fresh, as we have throughout this run,”

“There will be three fresh faces, maybe more, all of the lads are looking forward to hopefully getting us closer to the top of that league.

“Sometimes it is good to be on such a good run but then other teams raise their game against you. We are finding that each week, there are no easy games.

“All we can do is keep performing and get those points on the board instead of having games in hand.”
