GEORGE Rhodes has been invited to spend a week bowling at New Zealand and Bangladesh players in preparation for their forthcoming one-day international (ODI) and Test series.

The Worcestershire all-rounder is playing grade cricket this winter in Wellington and has received the invite via his club side Onslow CC.

Rhodes, 25, is the latest Worcestershire player to aid international teams during the close season.

Captain Joe Leach was invited to bowl at the England players in the nets three winters ago in Canberra when playing for North Canberra Gungahlin – and earned praise from England assistant coach Paul Farbrace.

Paceman Josh Tongue also bowled in the nets to the full England side during the winter of 2017-2018 when part of an England Lions training camp in Australia.

Rhodes said: “They were looking for net bowlers to aid with their test preparations and the invite came via Onslow.

“I am looking forward to that and it will be good experience to bowl at international players.”

Rhodes has been playing grade cricket since early October but will land back in England on February 27 to continue preparations for the 2019 campaign at New Road.

New Zealand and Bangladesh will do battle in three ODIs followed by three Tests during February and March.
