WORCESTER Hockey Club women's seconds starred with a 12-1 beating of hosts Redditch in Worcestershire League Division One.

Clare Hayes (3), Elly Shepperd (2), Libby Wycherley (2), Jo Baggs (2), Lucy Merrett (2) and Grace Moseley scored the goals.

Many came from open play with the team working the ball out from the defence to create opportunities.

Worcester firsts lost 4-2 at Edgbaston seconds on a bouncy pitch.

The visitors forced saves before Mattea Pauc opened the scoring but Edgbaston soon equalised.

Worcester went ahead again through Tash Walker to lead at half-time.

Edgbaston pressure led to another equaliser but this time they struck again to lead for the first time.

Worcester put pressure on but their opponents scored again late on through a short corner.

The thirds lost 2-1 at home to Bromsgrove thirds in Division Two with Charlotte Pawson giving them a 1-0 half-time lead.

But with Worcester playing against the wind in the second half Bromsgrove battled to victory with two quick goals.

The fourths lost 11-0 at Division Three leaders University of Birmingham sixths but it was no disgrace for a young team against opposition who have handed out plenty of thrashings this season.

Worcester men's firsts lost 2-0 at University of Warwick in windy conditions despite the best efforts of keeper Tom Dalton and Matt Kettley and a good display in general.

Jack Townsend and Ben Cooke went close to scoring in the first period and Worcester started the second half strongly.

But their defence was breached and a skilful second for Warwick put the Midland League Division One game beyond the visitors although Ollie Ranscombe narrowly missed an opportunity.

The seconds won 3-1 at Stratford 3-1 in the West Midlands Premier through Chris Whitmore (2) and Ryan Harding.

Worcester thirds lost 6-4 in the South West Premier to Hampton-in-Arden seconds who excelled on their short corners.

The city side led 4-2 with a Luke Pillinger hat-trick and penalty corner flick from James Quinn but a lack of substitutes and discipline cost them.

Worcester fourths extended their unbeaten run to five games with a 1-1 draw at home to Edgbaston fifths in South West Two.

Although not at their best they took an early lead through Simon Griffiths and should have extended it.

Edgbaston equalised with about 15 minutes left in the second half and Worcester held out for a fair result.

The fifths lost 9-0 to South West Two leaders Bridgnorth thirds but the sixths fared better with a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Bromsgrove fourths who beat them 13-0 earlier in the season.

Worcester went 2-0 down before a sweeping move saw Tom Howard chip the keeper from close range.

Andy Griffin flicked the ball over the keeper to level by half-time.

Worcester secured their first penalty corner and Phil Thomas' strike was deflected in by Howard.

Thomas finished off another penalty corner and Bromsgrove scored again but the hosts held out for a deserved win.

The sevenths' tough season continued with a 9-0 defeat to Olton and West Warwick.
