CAPTAIN Gerrit-Jan van Velze is set to be assessed by Worcester Warriors’ medics after suffering an arm injury.

The number eight left the field on 56 minutes in Warriors’ 47-33 defeat at Harlequins on Saturday and was spotted after the match with ice on his right arm.

Director of rugby Alan Solomons said it was “prudent to pull him off” and would assess his injury ahead of Sunday’s Gallagher Premiership meeting with Leicester Tigers at Sixways (1pm).

“We have got to have a look at GJ as he took a knock,” Solomons said. “We needed those fresh legs on and Ted (Hill) is a fabulous player so because GJ had taken a knock to his forearm I felt it was prudent to pull him off.

“He is a tough, old fella and gave everything (on Saturday). There isn’t anyone who is not trying or giving it everything.”
