WING Bryce Heem will leave Worcester Warriors at the end of the season after deciding not to sign an extension to his contract.

Director of rugby Alan Solomons insisted Warriors had “tried our best to persuade him” to stay at Sixways where he has become a big fans’ favourite.

But in a statement the club revealed Heem had “opted to pursue his career outside of the Gallagher Premiership”.

According to reports in France the 30-year-old has signed a two-year deal with Top 14 outfit Toulon. But Heem’s destination has yet to be confirmed.

HEEM LINKED WITH MOVE TO TOULON

Since he arrived in England from Waikato Chiefs three years ago, Heem has become Warriors’ leading Premiership try-scorer.

The New Zealander has scored 30 tries in 66 appearances for Warriors in all competitions including six in the Premiership this season.

And Solomons said Heem would be “sorely missed” at Worcester when he departs this summer.

Bryce has reached the point in his career where he has decided that he wants a different experience,” Solomons said.

“We have tried our best to persuade him otherwise, but, unfortunately to no avail.

“He is a terrific player and a fantastic bloke who will be sorely missed.

“Whilst we are really sorry to see him go we wish him all the very best.”
