A TEAM England ambassador from the 2018 Commonwealth Games will put on a display at Rhythmic Gymnastics Club Worcester’s season-opener.

The club competition is on Sunday, March 17, at the University of Worcester’s Riverside building.

Birmingham-based Mimi-Isabella Cesar, 24, who competed in Australia last year after her Games debut at Glasgow 2014, will show off her skills.

The event will include younger gymnasts and newcomers to the sport.

Worcester’s 35 competition gymnasts will get the chance to perfect their routines before the regional and national competition campaign starts.

Four groups are preparing to emulate last year’s success by attending a seeding event in Stoke which gives them the opportunity to qualify for the 2019 British Championships.

The club’s newly-formed fundraising committee are looking for more local businesses to support the club financially.

Rex Hinton, owner of Midland Materials Handling Co Ltd who are sponsoring the event, said: “The hard work and dedication shown by the volunteers who run the club and the gymnasts who train up to 14 hours a week is incredible.

“When a friend of mine who has two daughters at the club asked me to support this event I jumped at the chance.

"Community clubs like this play such an important role in developing young people.”
