CLUB director and trust chairman Dave Wood has called on the anonymous dissenters over Worcester City's community ownership plan to come forward so he can “make things right”.

City shareholders last week sanctioned a move that will see Worcester City Supporters’ Trust take all unsold shares in the club, handing the independent fans’ group a controlling interest subject to the resolution being ratified within one month.

In the build-up to the decision taken at City’s AGM, two club officials spoke out against the proposals but wished to remain anonymous amid claims of being “talked down to” for holding opposing views to the trust.

Wood opted against addressing the concerns prior to the AGM but has since refuted the "strange" allegations before paving the way to talk through any concerns.

“I am very much a democratic person, I think I have proved that over my tenure as chair of the trust and director of the club,” said Wood.

“I am always open to people talking to me. Of all of the characters involved — and there are some strong ones — I believe I am the person that will sit and listen.

“People at this club know my demeanour and what I am about so I hope any people, whatever they might feel, can come forward to talk.

“As chairman of the supporters’ trust it is my membership that they are making accusations about, accusations that I find strange.

“I don’t believe this is the image of the majority of the football club or supporters’ trust, I think these are the views of a very small minority of people and again, I would say come and talk to me because I was not aware of this situation.

“Everyone needs to be involved and feel that empowerment and under fan ownership we will achieve it. Everyone has the right to say things and to change things under this model. I am at every game and am there to have a chat.

“Personally, I think we have got a way to go if people do feel that way. I was disappointed to see it in the press but if it is what it is I have to accept it and talk to these people, have a discussion and make things right.

“I don’t understand the reasons behind some of the comments and am not sure they fully understand the reality of community ownership but they have personal views which I accept."

The historic vote to change City’s constitution provided a hotbed for online comments, much like the homeless club’s ailing fortunes have in the past, and Wood is keen to see a more tolerant environment in which differences get talked out face to face.

“It is very easy for people to make online comments but they don’t come and talk to you in person. I see that as cowardice personally, I prefer to face issues,” he added.

“I am not a social media person, I don’t do any of that at all and don’t read it. It worries me that people have a platform to write whatever they want about anything and anyone.

“I think it is derogatory and wrong but unfortunately, part of the world we live in nowadays. I don’t believe in keyboard warriors making remarks without wanting to confront it and talk it out.

“Everyone has an opinion, I have no problem with that at all but let’s talk about them.

“It would be good to clarify what community ownership is and what the funding streams are.

"I could talk forever about the various things but I am not going to do it in public, I want people to talk to me.”
