WORCESTER City’s injury list is unlikely to shrink ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Romulus (3pm) – but boss John Snape still cannot wait to play.

Joel Caines and Jamie Smith remain sidelined with nagging complaints but Callum McFarlane, who had been due to miss Wednesday’s washed-out clash with Coventry Sphinx due to work commitments, comes back into the equation.

Despite having three defenders absent, Snape explained he had been keen to play on the back of a 5-2 victory at Quorn on Saturday

“We were desperate to play to try to get a run going again,” said Snape.

“It was a magnificent performance at Quorn and we really wanted to build on that in midweek. Still, that opportunity is still there against Romulus and that’s what we will be aiming to do.”

That trio of absences led to Nyeko Sinclair’s signing on dual registration with Redditch United and he may be in line for a debut, even if Snape expects his stay with City to be short.

“He is a young lad who has suffered his fair share of injury problems this season but is still highly rated by Redditch,” said Snape.

“We are looking to him to give us a boost and help to keep clean sheets over the next few games, however long that may be.

“It is about him getting some game time while improving our options in the short term. It should be valuable for all parties.

“I can see Redditch wanting to play him before the end of the season so it is a mutually-beneficial dual-registration deal.”

On the game, Snape said: “I have known Swanny (Romulus manager Mark Swann) for years and his team will be well organised while wanting to play.

“We learned a lot from the encounter we had at their place, although I would expect a bit of a changed side from the League Cup match.”

City's home clash with Coventry Sphinx has been rearranged for Wednesday, April 17.
