JOSH Stafford and Richard Taylor were the second-half heroes as Clifton Rovers lifted the Katherine Rayer Cup.

Rovers registered a 2-0 victory over Worcester Athletic to take the silverware in the final played at Malvern Town.

The showpiece was marred by a double leg break suffered by Athletic’s Jack Stratford in the opening ten minutes but both teams opted to play on.

Athletic’s lack of fortune was summed up by Rovers keeper Adam Baker somehow pushing away a show-stopping strike late on.

Colwall Wanderers completed a treble with the Division Two crown by beating bottom-of-the-table Lower Teme & Martley Athletic 4-2 with goals from Ben Miller, Thomas Watkins, Josh Brookland and Nathan Ince.

Colwall had already won the Herefordshire County Cup and Southam Trophy.

Droitwich Spa BGFC Rovers still had a slim chance of being crowned champions but they went up in smoke thanks to a 5-2 loss to Kempsey Colts United. The Colts goals came from Nathan Owen (2), Luke Stock, Michael Green and Joe Morrall.

Hornets hammered second-placed Blackpole Sports 10-0 courtesy of six different goal scorers, which included hat-tricks for Harry Saunders and Jon Speak. Rifleman’s beat Worcester City Wanderers 2-1.

The only game in the Premier saw St Johns in action for the last time before disbanding over the summer.

It was an entertaining finale that ended in defeat as Fernhill Heath took the points 5-4 thanks to a hat-trick from George Coley and strikes from Joseph Broad and Luke Molloy.

In Division One, Pillar competed their fixtures and moved back to the top after they thrashed Drake Broughton Rangers 7-0 but lead by just one point and will need a massive helping hand if they are to stay there with the teams behind them having games in hand.

One of those teams is FC Malvern who swept aside PT Eagles 5-1 thanks to a hat-trick from Aaron Smith, a tap-in from Toby Boswell and a wondergoal from player-manager Stuart Hill.

FC Korono secured fourth spot following a 3-1 victory over Malvern Vale.

Signing off after 10 years of management was Craig Hodnett who came on as a substitute to play his part in a goal fest at Northwick Lodge.

Hodnett’s Grosvenor Sports side won 5-3 against Worcester Saints reserves in Division three with Josh Farnsworth and Jordan Roan both scoring braces and Ryan Clarke also on the score-sheet.

Finally, Malvern Radar edged out Droitwich Spa Eagles reserves 3-2 thanks to two goals from Adam Buckley and a strike from Adam Ruston.

Sunday sees Perrywood face off with Callow End in the Bayliss Cup final at Malvern Town, while Fernhill Heath tackle The Bell in the Premier Division.
