UPTON rowers enjoyed a successful start to the regatta season at Evesham.
Seven crews competed on the 1,000-metre upstream regatta course on Saturday.
Richard Gill and Jon Eaton won the masters B/C doubles final.
Jo Hammett and Linda Scott overcame a 10-second handicap to claim the women’s masters F/G doubles final.
Stuart Edney and Debbie Thompson won their first heat in the mixed doubles but lost to stiff competition in the final.
Chris Horne and Lance Hollis lost in the masters D/E doubles, Andrew Scott from Upton and Mike Jones from Ross in the masters G doubles, Andrew Scott in the singles and Linda Scott, Pippa Riddle, Sue MacGregor and Hammett in the women’s masters E quad.
Another seven crews raced the 500m downstream sprint course on Sunday.
Hugh Edney and Willow Haynes won the J13 doubles final with the women’s masters F double, Sally Miles and Thompson in the women’s masters B doubles and the mixed masters E double of MacGregor and Andrew Scott also successful.
Annie Derwent and Daisy Haynes lost out in the women’s J18 doubles as did the women’s masters E quad and Archie Tyrell in the J16 singles.
