WORCESTER City's FA Cup hero Sean Geddes has joined Evesham United as player-coach.

The midfield marvel, who became an internet sensation for his rabona strike against Barrow when in blue and white, follows new manager Carl Abbott from Quorn.

Formerly a Manchester United trainee and Walsall professional, Geddes has endured a nomadic existence in the semi-professional game following his cup heroics and City and Stourbridge.

He scored both goals in the FA Cup second round proper triumph at Coventry City in 2014 but has sporadically popped up at a variety of outposts looking to rekindle the magic of the past.

Geddes forms part of a seven-strong management team that features a surprise return for former Robins gaffer Shaun Cunnington.

“Paul Tomlinson will be my assistant along with Shaun Cunnington, who I know people here know well from his time as manager," said Abbott.

"Sean Geddes will be coming in as player-coach and Simon Johnson will be coming in as a coach to work closely with Paul.

"Both Sean and Simon have played at a really good level, so have lots to offer.

"Danny Watson is coming in goalkeeping coach. He will run mid-week clinics with the keepers here, so that’s fantastic.

"Finally, we have Richard Gamble coming in as head of performance.

"This is the biggest backroom staff I’ve ever worked with and we are very fortunate to have them."
