DEPARTING Worcester Warriors centre Ben Te’o is being linked with a move to Japan to play for Super Rugby strugglers Sunwolves in 2020.

Te’o played his 35th and final game for Warriors in Saturday’s Gallagher Premiership 31-29 victory over Saracens at Sixways.

His next destination has yet to be confirmed but according to the Rugby Paper the 32-year-old is opting to join soon-to-be-axed Sunwolves ahead of their final season in Super Rugby.

The report claims Te’o is set to make the move irrespective of whether he is picked to represent England at this summer’s World Cup.

Sunwolves who are bottom of the Australian Conference with two wins and 10 defeats will be cut from Super Rugby after the 2020 season due to financial reasons.

Several Top 14 clubs have been rumoured to be interested in Te’o who has won 18 England caps and starred in the 2017 British and Irish Lions tour.

But a potential switch to Japan would see New Zealand-born Te’o move closer to his native country.

The midfield powerhouse joined Warriors from Leinster in 2016 but his appearances over the past three seasons have been limited due to injuries and international commitments.

Te’o is one of 15 players from Worcester’s first-team squad that will be leaving.
