OLD Elizabethans claimed an impressive five-wicket win at Worcestershire League Premier Division leaders Redditch Entaco.

In the first week of the win-lose format OEs restricted Entaco to 211-6 before half centuries from Ramida Pravinath Wijesooriya Arachchige (62) and Michael Cooper (57) steered the Worcester side to victory.

The result allowed Astwood Bank who defeated Stourport by 26 runs to close the gap on Entaco to just four points.

Marvarick Perry (97) and Josh Banks (88) shared a fourth-wicket partnership of 170 as Stourbridge proved too strong for Pershore who slipped to fifth.

Chaddesley lost for the third week in a row as they were bundled out for a low total by Worcester.

James Crenan returned figures of 6-10 to give Evesham a victory against basement club Feckenham.

In the final round of the first tranche of win-lose-draw matches in Division One Bromyard slipped from third to eighth after losing to Pedmore while Worcester Nomads went down by six wickets to Burghill.

It is tight at the top of Division Two with Ombersley and Lye locked together one 117 points.

Ombersley won by three wickets at Kidderminster while Nadeem Hussain scored 92 in Lye’s winning draw with Himley at Wolverhampton Road.

Daniel Meredith (82) and Zain Ahmad (5-17) starred as third-placed Barnt Green comfortably saw off Brockhampton.

Martley beat Avoncroft and replaced them at the top of Division Three courtesy a fine innings of 110 from Alexander Basford.

At the other end of the table, Barnards Green secured a welcome win at Kempsey to lift them out of the bottom two and Pershore grabbed their first win of the season at Rushwick.

In Division Four, Worcester seconds put paid to Coombs Wood with a patient 59 from Craig Oakley and an excellent bowling display from Charlie Weavers (7-41).

Bewdley seconds are one place behind Worcester in fifth after a nine-wicket win over Astwood Bank thirds at Lower Park.

Mozamil Zulifqar took 7-64 in Lye’s seven-wicket victory against Hanley Castle & Upton to keep them at the summit of Division Five.

They are just two points ahead of West Malvern who gained maximum points against Colwall with Fergus Neve (97) leading the way.

Worcester Nomads seconds defeated third-placed Claverley by seven wickets while Malvern climbed to fourth after beating Netherton.

Droitwich Spa seconds lost by three wickets to Hagley at St Peter’s Field.
