MULTIPLE trials world champion Dougie Lampkin MBE makes his Shelsley Walsh motorcycle debut this weekend.

Yorkshireman Lampkin, 43, will attempt a wheelie record against the clock up the 1,000-yard hill.

BTCC driver Anthony Reid also attacks the Worcestershire venue in the BAC Mono single-seater supercar at the Best of British meeting on Saturday and Sunday.

Lampkin said: “I’m really looking forward to coming to such a prestigious venue as Shelsley Walsh that I’ve heard so much about over the years from motorsport friends.

"To now have the chance to set a record on one wheel and get my name alongside the greats of motorsport is something very special.

"I’ll have a couple of attempts at it and see what time I can get down to.

"That’ll be fun as I haven’t had the wheelie bike out for a while so the pressure is on and I like that.”

The 160mph British Hill Climb Championship cars will be gunning for points in their two top 12 run-offs on Sunday.

Last year saw the quickest time of 2018 set at this meeting when David Uren did 23.53 seconds and he will return in his 600bhp Gould GR55B V8.

Uren said: “After coming to Shelsley all my life to then win there last year was the highlight of my time in a racing car.

"The emotions that come over you at the top of the hill are so intense but then you begin to think how you can go quicker next time!

"I’ve got a huge amount of competition with Scott Moran, Trevor Willis and Wallace Menzies going so well this year plus Will Hall is always quick at Shelsley so I’ve got to be on my toes but I’m looking forward to it.

"At the end of the day there’s nothing like Shelsley Walsh.”

Robert Kenrick has already wowed the fans at Shelsley Walsh this year with victory at the May meeting as he builds up even more speed in his GWR Raptor single-seater.

At this meeting last year he won man of the meeting with a 24.96-second run.

There will be a new prize given on Sunday with the MHD Hero of the Day Award handed out.

Advance tickets are on sale at shelsleywalsh.com and the action starts on both days at 9am.
