OMBERSLEY have shrugged off a slow start to move up to fourth in Birmingham Cricket League Premier Division Two.

They thumped third-from-bottom Shropshire side Bridgnorth by 10 wickets.

Simon Gregory (64) and Sam Whitney (39) took the hosts from 73-5 to 147-6.

But once they were out Bridgnorth folded to 161 all out in 54 overs with Worcestershire spinner Brett D’Oliveira taking 3-37 and Neil Slade 3-38.

Ombersley sauntered to a comfortable win on 165-0 in 32.5 overs with openers Liam Gwynne and Nick Hammond carrying their bats for 101 and 52 respectively.

Gwynne faced 97 balls and Hammond took slightly more of the strike with 103 deliveries.

Ombersley also included fellow County professionals Ross Whiteley, Josh Dell and Jack Haynes.

In an all-Worcestershire clash at St Godwald’s Park, Barnards Green defeated Bromsgrove by six wickets after they dismissed the home side for 158.

The total would have been significantly less without a seventh-wicket stand of 71 between Mark Evenson (49) and Tom Hill (41).

Taylor Pugh (3-24) and Jon Dovey (3-41) bowled well for Green but their star man was skipper Ryan Tongue who hit an unbeaten 85 from 93 balls.

Tongue and Andy Ford (53 not out) came together at 71-4 and remained at the crease until victory was achieved with more than 24 overs to spare.

Brockhampton went down to a seven-wicket defeat to fifth-placed Oswestry.

The hosts decided to bat first and all went well until Worcestershire's Daryl Mitchell (37) was dismissed by Sam Davies (3-54) at 56.

Four successive wickets from Warrick Fynn (4-36) then saw the Herefordshire side slump to 142-7 and 164 all out.

Despite 3-39 from Param Uppal, Oswestry rarely looked in danger and their win was sealed by an unbroken fourth-wicket stand of 86 between Roman Walker (58no) and Connor Davies (34no).

Adam Finch continued the good form he has shown for Worcestershire seconds.

The paceman was instrumental in Halesowen being restricted to 155 with 4-37 from 9.5 overs as his side Wolverhampton triumphed by five wickets.

In Premier Division One, Kidderminster lost to Barnt Green by seven wickets at Chester Road where the toss was uncontested.

The hosts slumped to 71-8 before Liam Weston (47no) performed his rescue act.

Weston and Chris Steele (31no) added 77 for the ninth wicket but Kidderminster were all out for 149 with Matt Lamb taking 3-13 and Andy Sutton 2-31.

In reply, an unbeaten 62 from Lamb and 55 from Rheedyi Amin eased Green to a win in the 25th over.

Worcestershire paceman Dillon Pennington returned from injury to pick up a wicket.

The England under 19 player turned out for Shrewsbury in his first match since suffering an ankle problem in mid-April.

He took the new ball and had figures of 4-1-12-1 against Knowle and Dorridge.

Pennington appeared on the winning side as his side edged home by three wickets after dismissing their opponents for 97.

He is now set to play for the County seconds in a T20 double-header against Warwickshire at Stourport on Thursday.

Pat Brown (2-41) was the only wicket-taker for Dorridge who went down by eight wickets to West Bromwich Dartmouth after being bowled out for 149.
