OLD Vigornians knocked Martley off the top of Worcestershire Cricket League Division Three with a two-wicket success.

They moved into the top half of the table after Angus Guthrie got his highest score for the Worcester club when Martley looked certain victors at New Road.

Earlier, Guthrie's 10 overs only cost 22 runs with Chris Drew (2-42) and captain Alex Parker (3-17) the pick of the attack after Martley chose to bat first.

Skipper James Ganderton made a dogged 38 with 24 from both Tom Butler and Daniel Mayfield.

But Martley were struggling at 116-6 before Dan Johnson blasted 75 not out in just 45 balls including seven sixes.

The villagers doubled their score in the last 14 overs with 90 runs in the final 10.

While Joe Sullivan (52) and Henry Armstrong (35) shared a second-wicket stand of 64, OVs looked untroubled.

But from 102-1 they slipped to 194-8 before Guthrie saw them home in partnership with Ahsan Fiaz with both finishing on 19no.

The 20-year-old hit two fours and a straight six to seal the win.

Old Elizabethans seconds moved up to second after winning a low-scoring game against Avoncroft by five wickets.

The hosts were bowled out for 114 inside 32 overs with spinner Luke Allen taking 4-12.

Opener Daniel Elliot hit three sixes and three fours as he top scored with 32 and Avoncroft reached 50 inside five overs.

Regular wickets pegged the villagers back as spinners Spencer Wilcock and Allen, who clean bowled three batsmen, took control.

OEs slumped to 55-5 in reply but solid batting from Jude Rees and lofted drives by Jake Greenbank propelled them to victory.

Rees finished on 33no with seven fours and Greenbank on 28no as OEs chased their target down in just 20 overs.

Elliot finished with 5-55 for the hosts.

Simon Dorrell (4-8) and Matthew Walters (4-19) set up a nine-wicket victory for Kempsey who moved into fifth after beating basement side Pershore seconds.

Dorrell then scored 37no.

Rushwick slipped into the relegation zone as they lost at Old Hill seconds by seven wickets.

Netherton grabbed top spot following a 212-run thrashing of Barnards Green seconds at North End Lane.
