OMBERSLEY’S progress up the Birmingham League Premier Division Two table continued following an emphatic performance against Halesowen.

Due to the wet weather the match was reduced to 33 overs per side but Ombersley did well with the bat as they reached 176-6 with Brett D’Oliveira notching 63 and Josh Dell scoring 61.

Hassan Qaumi (3-38) and Eddie Rhodes (3-65) shared the Ombersley wickets but they were both out bowled by Neil Slade who took 4-33 as Halesowen finished on 139-8.

Ex-Worcestershire all-rounder Alexei Kervezee hit 71 for Halesowen who claimed eight points while Ombersley picked up 18 to climb to fourth.

The poor conditions over the last 24 hours had little effect at Barnards Green where play started slightly late as a 51 overs per side contest.

The Malvern side rattled up 262-4 thanks to an unbeaten 112 from Joe Crichard, 63 from George Rhodes and 53 not out from Josh Tongue.

Crichard faced 107 balls and hit 15 fours and two sixes.

In response, Harborne reached 172-6 from their 51 overs with a top score of 37 not out from Tom Payne.

The match between Brockhampton and Bromsgrove was reduced to 42 overs per side at The Parks and, in another match with an uncontested toss, the home side struggled to 121-9.

Ashley Newfield (4-25) and Gareth Williams (3-22) were the most successful bowlers for Bromsgrove, while Oliver Rogoff top scored for Brockhampton with 29.

Despite the best efforts of Param Uppal (3-34), Bromsgrove cruised to a six-wicket win with more than four overs remaining with 30 from Jayden Levitt and 29 not out from Matthew Russell.

The Herefordshire outfit remain winless and are 18 points behind Tamworth whose match at Oswestry was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Barnt Green's clash with Walsall was one of Division One fixtures that was called off due to the rain.

Kidderminster closed on 64-5 from their 21 overs after leaders Berkswell posted an imposing 230-5.
