DAN Cammish stole team-mate Matt Neal's thunder with a podium position in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Croft.

Neal, driving for Droitwich Spa team Halfords Yuasa Racing, was 10th in race one from a lowly grid position, fourth in the second contest and fifth in the finale.

But Cammish went one better in North Yorkshire with a third position in race two just ahead of his colleague added to finishes of sixth and 10th at a meet contested in mixed conditions.

Andrew Jordan claimed a pair of victories for BMW Pirtek Racing while reigning champion Colin Turkington, of Team BMW, moved top of the drivers’ standings.

Team Shredded Wheat Racing with Gallagher’s Tom Chilton triumphed in the final race.

Halfords Yuasa head the teams’ table with Neal fifth for the drivers on 115 points and Cammish eighth on 97 in the Honda Civic Type R cars.

“Scoring a podium at my home race is fantastic,” said Cammish who hails from Leeds.

“Given where I was 12 months ago I wouldn’t have dreamed of that.

"We’ve worked our way forward and I’m really happy with that.”

The next rounds are at Oulton Park, Cheshire, on June 29 and 30.
