WORCESTER City Youth under 11s are already looking in great form for next season after success at the Walsall Phoenix tournament.

City won the event contested by 24 teams from across the Midlands including a number of strong Junior Premier League sides such as Bustleholme and Alvechurch.

They enjoyed a 100 per cent record from their seven matches, netting 15 goals and conceding just one with Damian Duncan and Charlie Russell joint top scorers with three apiece.

Five victories saw City top their group and earn a semi-final against Boldmere St Michaels with Leo Cerrone on the mark in a 1-0 victory.

Pierce Lancaster then scored the only goal in the final as City beat Kingswinford-based PS Olympic 1-0 to lift the tournament trophy.

The team, who only played together for the first time last season, now look forward to more tournaments in Shrewsbury and Leicester ahead of City’s own junior festival at the end of August.

Sides representing Worcester’s girls’ under 10s finished third and fifth in the inaugural Nunnery Wood Colts summer six-a-side festival.

City’s new under sixes team were runners-up at the PS Olympic tournament.
