A FORMER Worcester rower returned to the city for training ahead of Friday's Henley Royal Regatta qualifying.

Ex-King's School pupil Henry Marles joined his University of St Andrews Boat Club coxed four crew on the River Severn in preparation for their debut at Henley.

Marles, who left Worcester to study medicine last year, and Oscar von Hannover are building on their recent success as Scottish men's two champions.

They will be joined by Campbell Nelson, Chris Bock and cox Holly Bartlett.

Worcester Rowing Club have housed the crew's boat and allowed access to their headquarters alongside support from city firms Prosser Knowles Associates and Hallmark Hulme.

The Scottish club's St Andrew’s Project 24 aims to raise £24,000 towards new boats for their fleet.

The crew train throughout the winter at Loch Ore, Fife, in freezing conditions.
