KIDDERMINSTER Harriers have signed powerful young midfielder Alex Prosser on a one-year deal.

The 6ft tough-tackling 20-year-old arrives at Aggborough having ended a 12-year spell with boyhood club Aston Villa.

Prosser had a taste of National League North with a loan spell at Brackley Town last season where he made a handful of substitute appearances.

He attracted interest from Brackley and a League Two team, according to Harriers.

Prosser enjoyed 16 appearances for Villa's under 23s side last term, scoring one goal.

Pre-season gets under way with the visit of an Aston Villa XI to Aggborough on Wednesday, July 10.

Harriers boss John Pemberton is continuing to work on finding new recruits for his squad.

They kicked off pre-season training on Thursday with some academy prospects and trialists alongside contracted players.

Meanwhile, Hereford FC have secured attacking midfielder Jordan Nicholson.

The 25-year-old was top scorer at National League North rivals Darlington last season with 11 goals from more than 40 appearances.

Nicholson previously had spells at Peterborough United and Barnet as well as on loan at Nuneaton Town after impressing for non-league clubs in Cambridgeshire.

Bulls head coach Marc Richards admitted Nicholson caused his side problems when the two sides met last season.

Nicholson said: “I had a chat with Rico and Tim (Harris, head of football), came down to the training ground, had a look around the place and just spoke about the club’s ambitions and goals. It went really well.

“Rico told me where the club wants to be and that was a really good selling point to me.

“It was clear that promotion is the big ambition here and that suits me. I want to compete, do well and win.”

Richards said: “Jordan tied us up in knots when we played against him last season. He’s a very exciting, attack-minded player.

“He’s got a good left foot and can play anywhere in that attacking midfield role.”

Bromsgrove Sporting have secured the permanent signature of last season’s loan star Cameron Peters.

The former Walsall striker, 20, has joined for the 2019-20 season after scoring some crucial goals in their Southern League Division One Central promotion success.

Sporting manager Bren Kelly said: “Cameron’s ability is there for all to see.

“He had a stop-start season last year with three loan spells but he can now call Sporting his home and get his head down, train hard and score goals.

“Coming from a pro club, we had to compete for his signature so we are chuffed he chose us.”

Peters, who hails from Hereford, did not feature for Walsall’s first team after coming through the youth system.

He had several loan spells with Bromsgrove before being released by Walsall on their relegation from League One at the end of last season.
