Luke Baldwin and Dean Ryan reunited at Dragons

Ryan who has recently been appointed director of rugby at Rodney Parade signed Baldwin from Bristol in 2015 when he was in the Sixways hotseat.

And he has now snapped up the “experienced” and “talented” number nine on a season-long loan to add further depth to his squad.

In Baldwin’s first season and Ryan’s last at Warriors the 28-year-old scored two tries in nine outings in the blue and gold.

But first-team opportunities have been hard to come by for Baldwin with Alan Solomons in charge at Worcester.

Baldwin made just two appearances last term, the latest of those coming in the Premiership Cup at Saracens in November when he was replaced at half-time.

However, Ryan believes Baldwin will push Rhodri Williams and Tavis Knoyle as well as young starlets Dafydd Buckland and Dan Babos.

“Luke is an experienced and talented scrum-half who I know well from our time together at Worcester Warriors,” Ryan said.

“He will give competition at scrum-half alongside Rhodri and Tavis.

“We’re excited to see the impact Luke can have with us during this loan and thank Alan Solomons and Worcester for agreeing to a move which I know will benefit all parties.”

Baldwin went out on loan to Harlequins in March but failed to make an appearance. He was then called up to play for England Sevens this summer only to suffer an injury in training.

“I’m really pleased that the loan has been agreed,” Baldwin said.

“It’s a fresh start and challenge for me.”
