Struggling Evesham Cricket Club endured a demoralising nine-wicket defeat at home to Redditch last Saturday.

Redditch captain Russell Southwick won the toss and elected to put Evesham in to bat.

Openers Muhammad Bilal Amin, who failed to get off the mark and Kamran Abbasi (4) struggled to make an early impression against the visiting attack, but captain and number three batsman Muhammad Saqib did manage to add 21, before being bowled by Haris Ali Mohammed.

Wajahat Chohan was the only other Evesham player to register a score of note with 18, with Waqas Ali and Ghulam Moyhuddin claiming three wickets each, to restrict the home side to 108 all out in just over 40 overs.

Evesham bowler Adnan Sagheer removed Redditch opener Thomas Phelan without scoring but that proved to be the only breakthrough for the home side.

Captain Russell Southwick scored an unbeaten 55 and Tom Field added 36 as Redditch cruised to the target in under 32 overs.

Evesham travel to Chaddesley Corbett on Saturday as they seek a much-needed win.
