FORMER Worcester City goalkeeper Paul Wyatt has returned to the club on the coaching side.

Wyatt, who also played for Rushden and Diamonds, Pershore Town, Bromsgrove, Redditch United and Malvern Town, will put City’s keepers through their paces.

City’s previous goalkeeping coach Gary Baines has left to do a similar role at Evesham United as well as guiding the Robins' youth section in training.

Wyatt is still based in the local area and plays cricket for Rushwick.

City lost 1-0 at Southern League Premier Division Stratford Town in their latest pre-season friendly on Tuesday night but were often regarded to be the better side against a club ranked two levels higher.

Worcester fielded two trialists, one in goal, along with summer signings Nat Kelly, Craig Jones, Aaron Birch, Demetri Brown and Tyreece Ruddock.

There were three more trialists who came off the bench as did new reserves and under 21s keeper Gabriel Bajrami.

Stratford's goal on 77 minutes from Chris Wreh, the son of former Arsenal, Monaco and Liberia star Christopher, arrived against the run of play.

Birch and Brown saw shots blocked by defenders while the lively Ruddock tested keeper Sam Lomax in the second half.

Midland League Premier Division side City's best chance saw Josh Willis head over Luke English's cross from close range.

Worcester host Rushall Olympic at Bromsgrove's Victoria Ground in their next friendly on Saturday (3pm).
