MIDFIELDER Kurtis Mewies and defender Nyeko Sinclair have signed for Worcester City.

Tough-tackling Mewies has agreed terms following a successful trial at the club and is expected to bring an extra bit of bite to the centre of City’s midfield.

Coventry Sphinx, Bedworth and Atherstone are among a number of clubs Mewies has played for during his career.

Sinclair who was previously part of Wolverhampton Wanderers' youth set-up has also been training with City this summer.

The centre-half joined Worcester on loan from Redditch United last season and made seven outings in blue and white.

Mewies was named in the starting line-up along with three trialists for Tuesday night's friendly at Cradley Town while Sinclair was selected on the bench.

A trialist striker got on the scoresheet as City ended a run of three successive pre-season defeats with a 1-1 draw at Beaches View Avenue.

Worcester were guilty of missing several chances in the first period and suffered a blow on the stroke of half-time when Cradley opened the scoring despite the best efforts of the trialist keeper.

But Ashley Vincent’s men responded well after the break and got back on level terms. Great play by Adam Osbourne set up a trialist striker who rounded the keeper before sliding the ball home.

City created further opportunities but Cradley held firm as Liam Lockett had a shot blocked from three yards out before Jordan Harrison had an effort saved.
