SUMMER signing Jak Jeys has been absent from Worcester City during much of pre-season due to “issues away from football”.

Manager Ashley Vincent said he remained in touch with the striker who would be part of the squad "when he is ready to come back”.

Jeys is a proven goalscorer in the Midland League Premier Division and joined Worcester last month after his departure from Sporting Khalsa.

But the frontman has not featured for City since starting in their 1-0 win over Bewdley Town in the pre-season opener.

“We are still in contact with Jak,” Vincent said.

“He is having some issues away from football which we are helping him get through. When he is ready to come back he will be part of the squad. But, at the moment, we are taking care of him away from football.”

City have lost three and drawn one of their past four matches in preparation for the new season.

They have also struggled to take their chances which is an area Vincent is keen for his team to improve against landlords Bromsgrove Sporting at the Victoria Ground today (3pm).

“We had 15 or 20 chances against Cradley and scored one goal,” Vincent added.

“We should have converted seven or eight of those so we need to start nailing those chances.

“It is the finer details we need to work on.”
