HOME competitor Nixie Turner won Worcester Triathlon Club's third and final race of the season.

In near-perfect weather conditions, more than 200 competitors, ranging from Great Britain athletes to first-timers, finished the sprint distance consisting of a 400-metre pool swim, 20-kilometre bike section and 5km run.

Competition was tight in the men's category with two doing under an hour.

The overall victory went to Oscar Barbour (Team Pool Care) in 57.39, closely followed by first veteran Kevin Lane (Club Success Cycling) in 58.40 with Elliot Thorley (Kidderminster and Stourport Triathlon Club) third in 1.00.18.

Turner finished ahead of Sheila Lammas (Stratford AC) 1.09.31 and Louise Anne Beasley (Triathlon Redditch) in 1.10.38.

Worcester club training continues with open-water swimming at Upton Warren near Droitwich until September and pool swimming, cycling and running sessions all year round.
